What is the Selfaudit Questionnaire?
It is an important tool for the implementation of a smoke free hospital together with the European Code and the Implementation guide. It enables hospitals to monitor and review their own progress towards the achievement of a written smoke-free policy ( ENSH Code).
It highlights the importance of the audit process, which helps to identify areas needing attention, provides a guide for policy development and through periodic administration, ensures that progress is kept on track. It consequently constitutes an important means of motivation.
It is also a tool to acknowledge and reward continuous improvement by facilitating hospitals to categorize their progress under four levels, i.e. membership, bronze, silver and gold. Each category certificate denotes a distinct level of attainment. Progress through the categories is not rigid and entry can be at any level, as long as the requirements for each of the proceeding categories has been achieved and maintained.
